About LEAP

LEAP Children, Families & Communities is one of Tameside's longest established charities,  transforming lives for 25 years through a wide range of projects, support and opportunities.

Founded by local people in 1998 as St Peter’s Partnerships, we are moving forward as LEAP CFC to better reflect our mission to inspire immediate and lasting change for children and adults through Learning, Empowerment and Participation (LEAP)

Since it’s very beginnings, the charity has worked with and for local people to tackle inequalities. We are embedded in local spirit, working where there is poverty and deprivation, loneliness and marginalisation, diversity and energy, hope and aspiration. We are a responsive organisation and continue to evolve in partnership with local communities.

Our main hub, The LEAP Centre is based in the heart of the St Peter’s ward in Ashton under Lyne. With a Preschool Nursery, Family Contact Centre, Community Garden and bespoke projects on site, our centre is a buzzing hive of activity.

Alongside The LEAP Centre, we also deliver green wellbeing support from our two main satellite sites:

BLOOM Allotments in Hyde

Community Green Allotments in Dukinfield

Our established Social Enterprise, LEAP Green Services provides training and skill development opportunities through gardening and grounds maintenance work across Tameside. We are committed to transforming lives and environments, through this enterprise.

A welcome from our CEO

Jo Parry-Gee

Welcome to LEAP Children, Families & Communities!

Hi, I’m Jo and I have worked in the St Peter’s Ward of Tameside for the past 20 years firstly as a teacher, a Sure Start Manager and for the past 10 years, in my role with LEAP. With over 35 years experience of working in communities, it is the diversity, hopes, ideas and aspirations of local people that continue to inspire me. I love leading LEAP and I am privileged to work with a great team of skilled staff and volunteers who are passionate about making a difference through their work with children, families and communities.

A word from our Chair of Trustee’s

Councillor Joyce Bowerman

Hi, I’m Joyce and I was part of the local community who originally founded the organisation, some twenty years ago.

I am delighted to now be the Chair of LEAP, providing governance and support to the organisation.

I am very proud of what LEAP have achieved and continue to achieve for people in the St Peter’s Ward and wider community of Tameside.

Governance

The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees, who meet every quarter. Our Trustees are responsible for ensuring the charity meets all governance requirements as specified by the Charity Commission.  Our Trustee meetings are energetic and enthused by the skills, knowledge and passion that Board members bring.

Our Volunteers

Everything we do is enhanced by our amazing volunteers, who bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to the organisation. Without them, we simply could not deliver the level of activity that we do.
